WHO IS KURKUMAMA?
Back in 1999, Maryam emigrated from Iran to Belgium with her family and her own set of spices. However, as you may expect, leaving home is never easy. Maryam, often worked two jobs at the same time and cooked every evening so that her children, now our founders, would grow up in touch with their roots.
Rice, stews, herbs, vegetables. Every detail mattered and transformed ordinary evenings into a tapestry of warm, treasured memories for her family, known to them now as "Kurkumama". Sometimes she would even peel potatoes on the bus ride home so dinner would be ready faster when she arrived!
Now (and everyday), inspired by Kurkumama's love for people, passion for cuisine and curiosity for culture, we aim to continue to bringing people together, as a family. Because, no matter if we are are cooking, hosting or sitting at the table, we are all part of this shared celebration. We are all Kurkumama.
